A few weeks ago, Ryan McCann wrote that Claris is bringing agentic development to FileMaker. Last Thursday, they previewed what some of that looks like. If you haven't watched it, go check it out here.
Proof has been actively contributing to Claris's efforts in this initiative. We think it's important that agentic development capabilities are a native (“first-party”) feature of FileMaker.
FileMaker's super power was never just making coding easier. Its value was in bundling all the important but messy layers—permissions, authentication, persistence, networking—around the code, so problem solvers can focus more on business problems, and less on technical hurdles. In an era of agentic coding, it's easy to confuse writing software with delivering software that actually holds up in the wild. Claris's move makes FileMaker more relevant, not less in the era of abundant code.
At Proof we've been building modern web and hybrid FileMaker apps using ProofKit for a while now. If you've used OttoDeploy or some of our other tools we've shipped for the FileMaker community, you know what I mean.
With the latest version of ProofKit we’ve taken everything we’ve learned about building web-enabled application frontends in FileMaker and turned it into a kit so that our team, and developers everywhere, can build agentically without redoing the plumbing every time.
And yes, it's totally free. Get it here.
Until Claris ships its official tools, ProofKit is the fastest way to start building agentically in FileMaker today.
